^^^ In your "ok" list, the one that stands out is Livin' Lovin' Maid, far more raucous than the others. If she's ok with that one, how would she take to Communication Breakdown or the highly danceable Rock & Roll?
Among others not listed, maybe she'd go for What Is And What Should Never Be, Since I've Been Loving You or In The Light.
Thanks for the suggestions. Rock And Roll I think would be just about okay, but she'd hate Communication Breakdown (she would probably say that it was too fast and loud). I wasn't sure if she'd be okay with Livin' Lovin' Maid but I've put it on playlists a couple of times and she's never commented on it. The truth is that my mum only tends to comment on Led Zeppelin songs if she doesn't like them so I was quite surprised when she said
I think What Is And What Should Never Be and Since I've Been Loving You would be alright if she was in the mood for it. She seemed okay with the latter on Celebration Day. In The Light however would lose her during the lengthy synthesiser introduction so even though I think she'd be okay with the rock parts of the, song she'd have skipped it before it got to them.
FWIW, I was also watching Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii last night. My mum was okay with Echoes and One Of These Days, and didn't object to Careful With That Axe Eugene or Mademoiselle Nobs. However, I had to skip A Saucerful Of Secrets (as soon as Roger started repeatedly hitting the gong near the start) and also bypassed Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun.
I did try playing Immigrant Song in the car with my mum and my younger sister (also not exactly a Led Zeppelin fan) just now. It went down about as well as I expected... skipped before getting to the first verse! It was quite funny as I'd deliberately put it on in the middle of a mostly acoustic playlist where it stood out like a sore thumb.
