^^^ In your "ok" list, the one that stands out is Livin' Lovin' Maid, far more raucous than the others. If she's ok with that one, how would she take to Communication Breakdown or the highly danceable Rock & Roll?

Among others not listed, maybe she'd go for What Is And What Should Never Be, Since I've Been Loving You or In The Light.

Thanks for the suggestions. Rock And Roll I think would be just about okay, but she'd hate Communication Breakdown (she would probably say that it was too fast and loud). I wasn't sure if she'd be okay with Livin' Lovin' Maid but I've put it on playlists a couple of times and she's never commented on it. The truth is that my mum only tends to comment on Led Zeppelin songs if she doesn't like them so I was quite surprised when she said

I think What Is And What Should Never Be and Since I've Been Loving You would be alright if she was in the mood for it. She seemed okay with the latter on Celebration Day. In The Light however would lose her during the lengthy synthesiser introduction so even though I think she'd be okay with the rock parts of the, song she'd have skipped it before it got to them.

FWIW, I was also watching Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii last night. My mum was okay with Echoes and One Of These Days, and didn't object to Careful With That Axe Eugene or Mademoiselle Nobs. However, I had to skip A Saucerful Of Secrets (as soon as Roger started repeatedly hitting the gong near the start) and also bypassed Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun.

I did try playing Immigrant Song in the car with my mum and my younger sister (also not exactly a Led Zeppelin fan) just now. It went down about as well as I expected... skipped before getting to the first verse! It was quite funny as I'd deliberately put it on in the middle of a mostly acoustic playlist where it stood out like a sore thumb.

That is pretty funny, messing with them by sticking Immigrant Song alongside acoustic songs. Very sneaky! :gig She seemed ok with some pretty intense Floyd, such as Eugene; her tastes are not easy to predict.

Indeed - I had the playlist on shuffle too, so I although I knew it was on there somewhere, I wasn't sure when it would come on! :heheh:

I think her tastes are difficult predict, for instance I have sometimes put Run Like Hell on playlists for the car - one time she said it was a really good driving track, a different day she didn't enjoy it at all and asked for it to be turned off.

I think Eugene was probably okay on Live at Pompeii because it was accompanied by the footage of volcanic eruptions during Roger's screams. If she heard the song on its own, she probably wouldn't be too keen on it. The version on Relics would be borderline, but I think she'd find the Ummagumma version way too intense.

I can relate to enjoying songs one day but not another, depending on mood and setting.

My mom and my dad like similar music like 1950's oldies, Simon and Garfunkel, Peter Paul and Mary, James Taylor. They also like big bands, jazz, classical, Andrea Bocelli.
