Re: Bruce Springsteen
I hated Bruce Springsteen when I was a teenager in the early 80's and even more when "Born In The USA" came out. I thought it was 'older people' music. Well I'm older poeple now and I get it. If someone wouldve sat me down and played me some of his early stuff and kinda talked me though it back then, I might of liked it. Why? Because his incredible knack for storytelling. And the characters that intertwine through his early albums. I can see now why he was so popular back in the mid 70's.
His newer music (the last 20 years or so, starting with Human Touch) seems to be more mature and mellower. You can hear the years gone by, the miles he's traveled, and the relationships he's had have left indellible marks on him and he tells it all through his music.
Alot of my rock and metal friends hate Bruce Springsteen but I just say it's their loss. My life, in a very small way, is richer for opening my ears to his music.
