... I can SAFELY say JACKO!!!

Now if only they'd only stop putting his face on the cover of every magazine at the supermarket checkout counter. I don't need to see that kind of freak show when I'm handling food.

Makes you loose your appetite for food, doesn't it??!! I think MJ was over hyped and over played, but the boy was talented. NOTICE I SAID BOY!

He was very talented as a youngen'. Innovative even. I like some of his stuff, and even have quite an album collection of his, but I never could see where all the hype came from. Girls screaming and fainting over him....good gawd he was a gross human being with a sick mind.

I can SAFELY say JACKO!!! He IS and he WAS nothing!!.....RIP anyhow.[/B]

you were either not alive or a total moron in the 80s to make a claim like that.

yes he's being martyred a little too much now, yes he did turn into a freakshow. but he was most definitely worthy of all the praise and accolades he received back in his day. Thriller was beyond massive. hell it's the reason MTV stopped being a bleached out radio station broadcasting on tv.

it's true his career had nowhere else to go but down, especially with the leeches he ended up surrounded with. that doesn't change the fact that he was very much incredibly talented the early parts of his career (and not just as a boy with the Jackson 5).

and before anyone starts going off about the kids he allegedly (and likely) abused... what about the parents desperate to be the next Micheal and Dina Lohan who were pushing their kids into his arms?

Although MJ was massively important, I never really liked him. I thought "Bad" was the worst video ever put on film and the album not much better.

No comment on his personal travails, they are well documented as you said and the parents looking for a cash settlement were as much to blame for the mess.

I liked Off The Wall, and Thriller, they are the only two albums of his I have in the library.

Overrated,,,don't know if I said it already but Axl Rose, biggest Twat in modern rock history.

Oh I remember those days alright. If only I could forget the mass adulation for that prissy little sister boy (who admittedly put out several very catchy tunes), but it's impossible with his picture everywhere today. I recall just how aghast I was in 1984 when my secretary, a woman in her mid twenties, squealed in approval "Oh he's just like a chick!" while gushing over his latest poster. This was a woman who actually came across as being very straightlaced! I was so appalled I was left speechless and just turned around and took shelter in my office. And now a few weeks ago when Jackson died, my sales assistant at the office, a full grown woman in her mid-thirties, pronounced it a very sad day! She argued that Michael Jackson opened doors for black entertainers everywhere. To which I responded "So he's to blame for all this hiphop and wiggers too?"

It just goes to prove that you can run from mass market culture, but you can't hide. It is to scream.

:wtf:

I don't fully understand your point. There's not too many rock enthusiasts who argue that MTV has improved since its early days. In what way did Michael Jackson change MTV for the better?
