Sure Joni may never have made it to the big leagues but she has a hard core following that swears by her music. But to me all the praise she gets is simply hype since I just find her annoying.

:steering:

Do we have to limit this thread to artists who have had mega success?

That is cute, we could send it to Britney and tell her to get a fix for her "boo boo's in life" and to get a clue about music! LOL

Nope! You're absolutely right. Having a cult following may or may not classify the artist as overrated, depends on how large the following is. I dont think there is a single artist ever recorded who didn't have at least a small following of fans.

But you can dislike Joni iffin' ya wants ta

BTW, doesn't Led Zeppelin need a singer who can still hit the highs?

:D

Led Zepp will if they come out of retirement! Which doesn't look like is going to happen.

I might add Ian Anderson, but nowhere on the level as those mentioned.

are you reffering to plant, or the guys they were looking at to replace him?

if plant, I agree he can't hit the same range he once could, but his new stuff with allison kraus is very good, I thought it would be horrible, but then I actually listened to it and his voice was good for that type of music, I don't think he can do the classic zeppelin tunes very well though, maybe some of their later records....

Yes, I was referring to Robert Plant precisely because it seems that he can't do justice to the classic Zep tunes anymore. That's probably the underlying reason why he doesn't want to tour with Zeppelin anymore.

I think so too, I think he tries to pass it off as ego though because hes probably embarrassed he can't but seriously check out his new stuff, it isn't bad, just different, which for a lot of artists like that its very hard to find someone that can change styles but still be good

Although he was considered by everyone around the globe as the KING OF POP (which in my opinion, he was NOT that either :)), I can SAFELY say JACKO!!! He IS and he WAS nothing!!.....RIP anyhow.
