I could easily list 20 or 30 but these are my ten for today in no particular order and only one per band though some groups have more than one classic imho.
I chose albums that are not just great pieces of music but are also iconic/groundbreaking/ or influential in some way.

Beatles- Sergeant Pepper
Rolling Stones- Let It Bleed
The Who-Tommy
Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon
King Crimson-In The Court of the Crimson King
Allman Bothers Band- Live At Fillmore East
Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited
Led Zep-4
Jimi Hendrix-Are You Experienced
Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath

Honorable mentions:
Steely Dan-Aja, Beach Boys-Pet Sounds, Jethro Tull-Aqualung, Doors-first lp, Cream -Disraeli Gears

9. UFO - Phenomenon.
8. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here.
7. Deke Leonard - Iceberg.
6. Genesis- Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

2. Pink Floyd - Animals.
1. Rolling Stones- Exile On Main Street.

I've based this on several reasons...nostalgic and personal memories & situations.
Still playing them today.
sheer quality of musicianship.

those who hovered just out the ten:
Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti.
Thin Lizzy- Live & Dangerous.
Bad Company- Straight Shooter.
Black Sabbath- Vol.4.

Not a big fan of his, but have to admit that I would probably put at least six of his choices on my list and by "his" I am referring to rtbuck's post.
