All I know is that these genres whether they be Grunge, Emo or even rock with a heavy dose of Blues as mentioned that express emotion the strongest are my favorites! :grinthumb

Nah, Emo came out of punk in the 80's. Grunge kind of re-elevated emo (IMHO) which has evolved and become more of a 'poppy' thing over the last 15 yrs or so.

You sure you not talking about a different genre altogether?

As far as I know Emo as a genre came into prominence in the 00s decade. Maybe it had its roots in the late 90s. But it certainly came after the Grunge explosion from what I know.

ETA: Never mind. You're right. It was just underground in the 80s and until the mid 90s... And at the beginning of the 00s it just exploded into the mainstream. Thanks, wikipedia! ;)
