I don't mean to add gasoline to the fire BUT I always heard that grunge came from Punk/is Punk. I also get an earful when I say Nirvana is not Punk -_-. Still, they are not.

Punk Hardcore, which is Punk, came from Heavy Metal
then that would mean Grunge is Heavy Metal
