I hate excessive political correctness but not PC entirely. I hate it when people use it to censor things like lyrics etc.
Plenty of good bands use very crude lyrics.
Then that said I listen to death metal which has all sorts of ****** up lyrics with fictional context. lol

David Coverdale's lyirics (I assume they are his) for Lay Down, Stay Down were distasteful, even at the time. It was recorded in 1973 and released in early 1974. Many of his lyrics and his breathy delivery still make me cringe:

Lay Down, Stay Down
(Blackmore, Coverdale, Hughes, Lord, Paice)
From the album Burn by Deep Purple

I don't care if my lady's gone
As long as you give me just what I want
I've been losin' my direction,
Got to find a new connection

You have wasted the love I tasted,
Now I'm really gettin' hungry more and more
Been a long time, had a bad sign
Tell me what am I fighting for?

Let me know you feel it,
You know I really need it
Keep on pushin' for more,
Lay down, stay down

Lookin' for trouble, I guess that's right
When I was young I was taught to fight
It's been long gone since I had known,
Now I'm headin' for some more

Let me know you feel it,
You know I really need it
Keep on pushin' for more,
Lay down, stay down
I got something to find,
There's one thing I really need
I'm gonna tell you right now,
Lay down, stay down

Let me know you feel it,
You know I really need it
Keep on pushin' for more,
Lay down, stay down
I got something to find,
There's one thing I really need
I'm gonna tell you right now,
Lay down, stay down

More of Coverdale's poetry, recorded in 1983 and released in 1984. When criticised he replied he wasn't Billy Shakespeare:

Slide It In
(David Coverdale)
From the album Slide It In by Whitesnake

You talk too much, never saying what's on your mind,
It's written on your face, I lead the world you hide behind.
I know what you want, I can see what you're looking for,
I know what you want from me,
An' I'm gonna give you more.

I'm gonna slide it in right to the top,
Slide it in, I ain't never gonna stop.
Slide it in, right to the top,
I'm gonna slide it in, slide it in, slide it, in baby.

Sometimes you seem just like a stranger to me,
But, all the games you play make it so easy to see.
You're looking for love, tho' you try to deny,
The things you put me through
Tell me what I've got to do to you.

I'm gonna slide it in, right to the top,
Slide it in, I ain't never gonna stop.
Slide it in, right to the top,
I'm gonna slide it in, slide it in.

You talk…

I'm gonna slide it in, right to the top,
Slide it in, I ain't never gonna stop.
Slide it in, right to the top,
I'm gonna slide it in, slide it in,

Slide it in, right to the top.
Slide it in, I ain't never gonna stop.
Slide it in, right to the top,
I'm gonna slide it in, slide it in, slide it, slide it in, slide it in, right to the top, baby.

Ten years after comes immediately to mind.
Great band. But not very PC in this day and age.

I get which lyrics you are talking about, but it's only select lyrics,
We still have a bunch of loudmouth snowflakes in America beating their chests to this theme:

Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more?

Well yeah and you couldn't have the lyrics "Dykes and Fairies" these days.
The PC crowd would completely lose their shit over that.
In fact I think the comments for the video are full of such complaints.
It came from a different time.

KISS - Christine Sixteen.
"I don't usually say things like this to girls your age, but when I saw you
coming out of the school that day, that day I knew, I knew, I've got to have
you, I've got to have you."

Awesome, political song. What's strange is the lyrics seem to point the finger at the leftist, hippie crowd to say what's wrong with the country...the same crowd they'd play to at Woodstock.

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more?
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, Monopoly
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

I first heard this song a few years ago, not at the time it was released - it was not a hit single in the UK and was never played live. On first hearing, I took Alvin Lee's lyrics to be mocking the left, because the song is about those hippies who were saying they wanted to change the world, but were doing nothing to create the change. As TYA were hippies themselves, it is hard to work out whether or not he was being ironic. I spent quite a lot of time trying to find out Alvin Lee's politics and have never arrived at a conclusion. There are a number of assumptions made about him that seem unreliable.

See the little faggot with the earring and the make-up
Yeah buddy that's his own hair
That little faggot got his own jet airplane
That little faggot he's a millionaire

Pretty incorrect verse. 2_sm4.gif
