It was part of Mather's damage control effort when he was "Gay Bashing" in one of his songs. He claimed he wasn't prejudiced against homosexuals, and Elton John gave him the opportunity to help get past that controversy.

Hey Axl Rose and Elton John was pretty wierd as well.

In fact any duet with Axl Rose back in the late 80's early 90's was bizzare.

:heheh:

Elton John'll sing with any old bugger who asks...

But I digress. I actually think this could work. I can only count myself as a casual fan of either Reed or Metallica, but this is an interesting pairing. I'm glad Metallica aren't just continually rewriting "The Unforgiven" :grinthumb

I always thought that was a good performance and Elton wasn't that odd of a fit considering he filled in a singing vocal that the song already had and just played his regular piano. If Elton had a rap verse then it'd be weird. :heheh:

That's a new one for me, never realized they had played together before.

But no matter what, it's kind of cool when a band does this, steps out of their comfort zone and takes a chance. You never know what will happen.

I agree and hopefully THIS chance they are taking may turn out to be a good one considering their previous risks were terrible.
