Metallica set to release album with Lou Reed | News | NME.COM

loutallica.jpg

Metallica confirmed last night (June 15) that they have completed work on a full album in collaboration with Lou Reed.

The San Francisco metal titans, who had said earlier in the year that the recording sessions they were undertaking were not for "a project that was 100% Metallica", have now published details of the recordings on their official website Metallica.com. The band have said they revealed the sessions were taking place after Reed was spotted entering their studio.

------------

I don't really know what to expect of this. Metallica isn't my kind of music at all, but Lou Reed is one of my rock heroes. I'll give a try, but it sounds so weird.

^^That is a strange collaboration, but if Metallica can record with a Symphony orchestra and make it work(Some fans enjoyed it.) then working with a legend like Lou Reed should be a walk on the wild side...:grinthumb

This'll be pretty cool. I'll definitely check it out when it's released.

I'm curious if nothing else.

(I'm listened to The Velvet Underground as we speak coincidentally)

My first thought would be: "Ish"

I like most of Metallica's work, but Lou Reed does about as much for me as drinking paint thinner.

At first glance it does seem like an "Odd Couple"...but considering how many "Unplugged" or "Acoustic" sets hard rock and metal bands have done over the years this might not be as bad as it seems.
