Springsteen's best work was in the 70's. I think most fans would agree.

That may be however his biggest commercial success was in the 80s. He had 4 albums hit #1 and another go to #3. And one of those #1s was the 3-cd live album which carried a hefty price tag and to date has sold over 13 million copies.

But you're right. My favorite album from him, Darkness On The Edge Of Town, was a 70s release. But he has released some very good albums in the 2000s. The Rising, Magic, and Working On A Dream are all strong albums and every bit the equal of of his first 2 albums or The River and Born In The USA. I would rate only Darkness and Born To Run over those 3.

I'm not at all saying that his 70s stuff is no good, but I prefer Billy Joel's songs as a whole in the 70s. It's not by a large margin thought. Both are awesome artists with great music in any decate.

Bruce has a small handful of songs I don't mind (nothing I love)
Billy Joel has a LOT of songs that I love.



I'll take BJ over BS any day of the week (and twice on sundays)

I like both. When I was younger I would've said Billy Joel, but as I've grown older, I've grown to appreciate The Boss more and more.

I am not a huge fan of either one, but "Born To Run" and "Born In The USA" have tipped the balance in favor of Springsteen.

I do like "The Stranger" and "Glass House" Billy's two best records.

Can't believe I didn't see this, but guess who I picked.

As for those of you who are not a fan of Bruce, I recommend seeing him in concert. Many people I know have changed their minds about him and became fans after seeing a show. He is amazing live, even still in his older age.

Agree completely.

You definitely get your money's worth when you see a Springsteen concert. I've seen him 8 times and the shortest concert was a little over 3 hours. Most of the time Bruce and the band get into the 4 hour range.
