I always felt like this was a fairly weak year sandwiched in between the big releases of 1987 (and many of those pretty much dominated 1988) and the great albums to come in 1989 but there are some excellent albums

Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman
REM - Green
Prince - Lovesexy
Sade - Stronger Than Pride
Joan Jett - Up Your Alley
Bon Jovi - New Jersey

1. U2 - Rattle and hum
2. Warrant - Dirty rotten filthy stinkin rich
3. Living Colour - Vivid
4. Bon Jovi - New Jersey
5. Van Halen - OU812

If i could include compilations i would have "Past masters vol. 1" and "Past masters vol. 2" two compilations which i believe were released in 1988 which collected the vast majority of Beatles singles and b-sides which weren't included on their studio albums.

Not the most popular, but my personal fav from the good ol' pixies :)

Sort of a prequel to Every good boy deserves fudge, mudhoneys Superfuzz bigmuff
220px-Mudhoney_sfbm.jpg

Also not their most popular album, but in 88 there was big hype for this album, Rattle an Hum from U2

Those are my top 3, its kind of a tie for me, cant choose one single album, but if i abolutely had to, id say Pixies' surfer rosa wins

Years ago a young friend tried to get me into the Pixies...but they just don't do anything for me Lavender...:dunno:

Mudhoney is okay, my friend CN is the one who introduced them to me over 5 years ago.

U2...they sure get a ton of stick from critics and fans alike but early U2 put out some first class albums, before Bono became an Icon in his own mind.;)
