Yeah, like I said I'm sorry you guys don't get the same humor I do. I thought it was obvious, no explanation needed. My bad. I hang with a lot of different crowds and some of them would have known exactly what I was talking about with just that one line. I need to be much more mindful of my audience.

2. I joked about it because it was funny how the only song from the last 20 years is a retro-rock track. It's funny because it's like "why even bother having that there? There's a million songs of that exact same style from the periods when those styles of music were much more prevalent. It's called irony. Sure, maybe the Jet song is one of the 10 best retro-rock tracks out there. But it's still ironic, cute, and funny. Another level that makes it funny is, to me that Jet song is the height of banal mediocrity, so to have it coming at the end of all these innovative tracks is also ironic. It's funny in a lot of ways, mainly generating from Jet's outlier status.

Ok, I'm not going to dwell on that "why even bother having that there?" because it's really quite obvious that the reason "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" would be on Alice's list is because he likes it. DUH. :bonk:

The bold part though however? If you had actually read the very first thing in the very first post of this thread then you would've seen that the reason Jet was at the end was because the songs were sorted by year.

Now, if Regina Spektor was on his list, then it would be laughable.

:lmao:

I like Regina...quite a bit actually.

I met Alice Cooper and it was a VIP meeting...he knows his stuff. He even mentioned that when the crowd goes nuts for Killer (a song he played the night we met him) he could tell real die hard fans from casual listeners then when the hits are played.

Alice's influences and love stems from Zappa to Iggy & The Stooges to the Beatles.

As far as the Jet song?? yeah there is a alot of Alice in that song....kinda School's Out era...so why wouldn't he like it??

:bow::bow::bow:
Wayne World Moment ....Not Worthy Not Worthy Jealous you met him Metal

Alice seems SO down to earth. Listening to his radio show is awesome. He's just a regular guy..straight talk..I like his insights and his perspective of music. He 's been around awhile and he knows people and music pretty personally.
but I bet if you said 'Hey Alice your tastes sucks !" [It doesn't to me] he'd prob say ..fair enough why ?":grinthumb

Alice is coming round here in October with Rob Zombie..I REALLY want to see him!

Nope, I ASKED if he has. Most people who listen to music extensively dig deeper into the catalogues and their favorite song lists wouldn't read like that, so it's a valid question.

Ummmm... ... why? 'Cause he's a musician? Being a musician doesn't mean he listens to a lot of music. People like you and me probably have more time to dedicate to music listening than a star like him. You might be surprised how little a lot of musicians really pay attention to music other than their own. In fact a lot of musicians at this age stopped listening to new music decades ago, which seems pretty plausible for Alice considering his sole entry from the last 20 years is the most played retro-tripe to be released in that time. *shrug*

He probably heard that Jet song on a TV commercial. I mean, he couldn't even pick a song that doesn't sound like it's a b-side from The Black Crowe's debut album? Hehehe. I'm just taking the piss of the guy, that's obvious. I don't know what he listens to outside of these 10 tracks. But is his list somehow beyond criticism because he's big bad Alice Cooper? If I posted, say, a top 10 of all-time and it was nothing but Nirvana songs, you don't think anybody on here'd say anything about it?

Well, his bad music taste makes me laugh. What else would I call it? These are okay tracks but they aren't even very notable among each of these artists' catalogues. I can guarantee you pretty much everybody on this board would post a list I would find less laughable than his. When Alice Cooper starts posting on this board, I'll begin to consider being cordial to him.

he obviously knows who Jet is. So how can you say he doesnt listen to new music
