In a nutshell, I think it is great that artists openly list what they like. And like LG said, it is really hard to nail a list of personal favorite songs to just 10. I think Alice Cooper is entitled to list whatever in the hell he feels like listing as his favorites. If anyone feels the list is too shallow, then that is their problem.

He would definitely get a huge laugh out of all the fuss everyone is making over his list.

It's funny! If he listed more than half the artist from the end of the spectrum, being newer and lesser known artist we'd be having the same argument but just on the other side of the coin. I don't care about the list. Lists are shit without a personal reason behind the choices. That's the heart of taste is knowing WHY they like them and the passion behind the choices. People are more concerned about whether it matches their taste which is foolish to me.

If I did a list, despite my record collection spanning from the 50's to the 00's, I'd probably have the same sort of distribution time wise, and any from recent years would probably have the same "retro" style, as that's the style I most like to listen to.

Doesn't mean I don't like indie, or blues, or jazz, or punk, or folk, or whatever, just that "classic" rock is my favourite type, and all 10 of my Top 10 favourite songs would be from that genre.

I'm with Soot, it's impossible to judge a list unless we see a reasoning behind it.
