I am one of those people who met Alice and he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met.

Well then next time you meet him tell him I've noticed that he's not been posting here very often.

From a top ten list you cannot assess how much modern music Alice listens too. I've heard him in interviews talking about plenty of modern groups that he listens to all the time and even the things he doesn't listen he's aware of.

Oh, no doubt about it. I have no way of knowing what Alice listens to. But I used to listen to his radio show and it was completely consistent with this list, no new music other than retro-rock. Who knows whether this was merely a format Alice decided to cultivate or if it reflected his general views. I've explained a bunch of times how I was only speculating based on what information is available.

But what I'd really like to point out is that you "hate the 00s" so of Alice's list of ten there is one song from the 2000's that you yourself even says doesn't sound like it's from the 2000's...so in turn you make fun of him for it....Now I might have gotten lost in a maelstrom of conflicting logic but what you're saying is that Alice is not allowed to "Are You Going To Be My Girl", which is perfectly good song that was very successful in it's own right, because as soon as he does then suddenly his musical tastes becomes "laughable" and "cute"? Basically, because the other nine songs were from before 1988 you look at this list and think "No dammit, you Alice Cooper listen to classic rock. You're not allowed to like this classic rock flavored song from 2003 because it's from the last 20 years. I shall mock and laugh at you.", eh?

Oy vey. What kind of humor do you guys like... Family Circus? I'm sorry that my jokes didn't seem like jokes to y'all. There's no conflicting logic in my posts in this particular thread. Two things happened here:

1. I disagree with his list, so I made my feelings known, just like anyone would under any normal circumstances on a message board.

2. I joked about it because it was funny how the only song from the last 20 years is a retro-rock track. It's funny because it's like "why even bother having that there? There's a million songs of that exact same style from the periods when those styles of music were much more prevalent. It's called irony. Sure, maybe the Jet song is one of the 10 best retro-rock tracks out there. But it's still ironic, cute, and funny. Another level that makes it funny is, to me that Jet song is the height of banal mediocrity, so to have it coming at the end of all these innovative tracks is also ironic. It's funny in a lot of ways, mainly generating from Jet's outlier status.

Life is funny. You guys seem to think I was being malicious when this, to me, is what makes life funny. Alice is more than welcome to joke about my music taste as well. Everybody's taste is funny. Lighten up, have some fun for once.

I hate the 00s... yet I listen to tons of 00s music. Want to make a joke about it? Here, use this: my 4th favorite artist is from the 00s. Make a joke about how none of my favorite artists are from the 50s. That's irony right there. It's pretty cute, huh? I guess you guys take life seriously or something, 'cause I definitely don't. I'm all about the quaint stuff, 110%.

It was whoever else who brought up the worst decade thread as if it means I don't like the 00s, and I was just playing along. In the decade thread I categorically note the 00s music that I like. Put two and two together.

Mmm... that would be hilarious, but I can't decide if it would be more or less so. It would be funny because of the heightened outlier aspect and it would be a pretty ridiculous artist to see on his list, particularly because of how darn silly she is, and also to see it next to the other artists. Although the generic aspect of Jet adds an exquisite level to it... I think they'd be about even in funniness.

If y'all are taking this as some sort of attack on old music... you can forget that right now. Classic rock is my favorite style of music. Although these particular songs would be very low on my personal lists. If he had chosen Get Off of My Cloud, that would have been cool. Or Help. Surely we're all allowed to have an opinion about the list...

Bottom line AAG, is that your first post only said Alice's list was laughable with no real explanation.

It wasn't until others expressed concern in your one sentence post that your posts became larger and larger...filled with explanation...expecting others to have read your mind.

Some of these explanations almost implied that some of us are clueless to your initial post...which had only one line.

Explain yourself from the get go next time so there is no communication gap.

So..we know how you feel about Alice's list. Let's move on and not make this
