ALICE COOPER Relates To CHARLIE SHEEN - Mar. 18, 2011
According to The Pulse Of Radio, newly inducted Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Alice Cooper says that he understands the situation Charlie Sheen is in. Cooper, a longtime recovering alcoholic, told The Pulse Of Radio that he clearly sees similarities between himself and the troubled "Two And A Half Men" actor. "I relate to him on one level; When I was an alcoholic, I was the most functional alcoholic there was," he said. "In other words — I was drinking too much, everybody knew it, everybody saw that I was, y'know, getting sick — but, when it came to doing my job, I was dead on, when it came to doing a show. And so, I have to defend him on one level; If he's showing up to do his job on that show, and he's straight, and he knows his lines, and he's funny, and he's not a problem — I don't know how they can stop the show. He's actually fulfilling his contract."

Cooper is currently working on a sequel to his 1975 album "Welcome To My Nightmare" with producer Bob Ezrin. "Welcome 2 My Nightmare", which will feature three songs with the original ALICE COOPER band, is expected out in the fall.

That makes sense, when it comes to his professional career if he can do his job then whatever he is doing to himself on his own time is his business.

However, he basically called out Chuck Lorre from what little of this drama I have read, and Chuck Lorre is a heavyweight when it comes to producing successful television shows. You don't tug on Superman's cape....or you'll pay the price.

As far as him ever being allowed to have custody of his children...I don't think he is fit to be a father, not with his insane antics the last while of all the crap being bandied about I was more worried about his kids than his screwed up life. I am glad they are back with their mother.

Charlie Sheen is a decent actor, but I think he is an insufferable arrogant asshole in real life and would tell him as much if we ever met...and all his millions wouldn't save him from a beatin' if he wanted to take it that far.:D

Alice Cooper is LIVING proof than a substance abuser CAN turn his life around

I know Charlie Sheen is a great actor ..Platoon is one the best movies ever and that person IS in there somewhere...

Your right Lg , He's a total jerk about his success and his talent.
He needs a good reality check . When your in the state he's in ..he needs to shut up and get his crap together

he certainly should NOT be in charge of anyone {children, pets, a goldfish} Because he's not in control of himself...

I hate seeing someone waste their lives like Sheen is...everyone seems to enjoy the fall from grace
like when Britney Spears was flipping out a few years ago...
I think it's sad and really scarey that the people who put them up on top, are the same ones ******* at the fall...but thats the price of stardom..

Personally I'm tired of listening to his foul mouthed crap and he needs to just shut up and go get some real help
but he is in denial and is too arrogant to take it on at this moment..

He needs a good support system of family and friends to slap him upside his head and maybe he'll come out this with his life and his kids...instead of a bodybag ..screw his career at this point..

If his Dad and family can't get through to him, I don't hold out much hope unless he hits absolute rock bottom...and unfortunately he has made enough money he could probably go on a drugged out/alocohol/sex binge until he kills himself.

There are only so many chances before you get the picture Charlie is on a collision course with destiny, of his own making.

I wash my hands of him, I didn't watch his hit show anyway so if it gets canceled so be it.

Sean Penn recently tried to get Charlie to go with him on some relief/aid trip to Haiti, I believe.

Penn figured seeing people who were less fortunate would remind Sheen of how lucky he is. Penn also hoped it would help hide Charlie from the media for awhile until things (and Charlie) calmed down. Point being, keeping Charlie busy would keep him off of the radio, off of Twitter, away from reporters and also help to clear his head a little.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Sheen took Penn up on the offer.

^^^ hanging out with Sean Penn in a 3rd world country for a weekend would be enough to make me take my own life. Or at the very least REALLY start hitting the party favors.

Seriously though, I think that Charlie's issues span a lot deeper than just some dependency issues, or that party mentality that he has. People forget, this guy has been boinking porn stars and high priced hookers for well over 20 years, and has been partying the entire time. Sure, he's slowed down for a couple of failed marriages and that whole family life everyone is supposed to have, but it's no him. His issues (if you really want to say he has issues) are deep inside him. It's his mindset. Could that be from drugs and alcohol? I dunno. One can speculate but we really don't know. Could it be because he grew up the son of a well known actor who in his own right was a little nuts at times too. *shrug*

Cooper has one good point though, if you show up for work and do your job without problem, then what's the problem? I'm not so sure he was always showing up on time and doing the job though. From some interviews I heard on the radio with Jon Cryer (before this whole thing blew up), you never really knew which Charlie was going to show up on any given day, or what time he'd show up.

(but I could be remembering it wrong).

Penn's a geek, but it'd have been better for Sheen and his career for Charlie to disappear for awhile to Haiti instead of rambling about tiger's blood and all this other nonsense to the press.

Besides, what would Jon Cryer be doing for work without Charlie Sheen's name on the show, which is a big part of the success of Two and a Half Men? For all he does right or wrong, I consider Charlie Sheen mostly responsible for that show being a hit and the supporting actors being able to thrive off of that success.

Two and a half men was cancelled, to my understanding, as a direct result of Charlie.

There is more dynamics to this, now there are more people out of work besides just Charlie, the rest of the cast and crew are now unemployed. I would be one pissed off person if I lost my job because of another person's addiction/dependancy problems..........

Charlie and his "one man circus" that has been airing on TV totally shows his mindset these days. I think the producers did what should be done, end his contract and hopefully he will move on or get help.

As far as Alice Cooper identifying with Charlie, yes he probably does know what addiction is and it's demons, and how hard it is to be on the recovery. What Alice fails to identify with is Charlie's current predicament. Charlie is now out of work, and has alienated himself from his co-workers, friends, and family........it doesn't look good.

Personally, the show ran for longer than most people probably expected when it first came on tv. How many years/seasons was it on? It could have just as easily been cancelled after 5-6 episodes and the same people would have been out of work a long time ago anyway.

Yeah, Charlie got the show cancelled and put these people on the street. However, pretty much everyone associated with the show (cast and crew) will still end up getting plenty of job offers as a result of their efforts on Two and a Half Men. Those same people were also making good money working on tv for several years because Charlie was carrying a big load for the show and for that matter the network.

In the end, Charlie still did a lot to help the careers of the people who were involved with the show, even if it ended very badly. Again, unless I missed something under my rock, what sort of demand was there for Jon Cryer before this show came along?

Sure, I sound like a biased Charlie Sheen fanboy, but I won't lie about being one.

I have to agree, Charlie was a huge portion of the success of that show....and his co-workers and producers are guilty of enabling. This final straw should have been reached a long time ago, especially if there were problems on the set.

None the less, I would be pissed off at losing my job and I would blame Charlie!
