Let me just stop you right there.

Maybe YOU don't like 80s music but you'd be far wrong to say others don't like it either. Why do you think there are so many 80s compilation mixes around these days? Because the music back then was way better than it is right now and most people who grew up back then would rather listen to the music of yesteryear than today's crap.

Ok, I just realized that you posted this a year ago. I'll just assume you've changed your mind about the 80s and post one of my favorite and somewhat cheesy 80s vids.

I don't believe I said anywhere in my post that "others don't like it either", but thanks for singling me out there. How nice of you. :grinthumb

She never said others don't like it, she said the 80s was not the best era.

"We all know the 80s were not the best era for music..."

:D

It's alright, your generation will never understand us 80s kids.

I grew up in the classic rock era, but I only belong to one generation.

The music generation.

I think everyone here loves music enough to make the same claim.

Personally I'll take the 80's over the 2000's easily, it gets a lot of stick for being stale or lightweight but some very good bands released great music all through the 80's, just like every other decade since the Baroque era of classical music.

I've had the go round with many of my peers who firmly believe nothing after the late 70's is worth listening to, I strongly disagree and always will. It's because of the rock music still being made in Europe that I got interested in music again a few years ago...well I've always been a music lover but it rejuvenated my passion.

I've noticed a lot of people don't care for the 80s as opposed to the 60s and 70s because of glam/hair bands and synth pop which is why I said what I said in the OP. :grinthumb

However I forgot that some people take things literally and when they have an agenda, they'll nitpick. If anyone else is having a hard time dealing with the OP I will gladly change the wording so everyone can sleep sound tonight. :heheh:

Exactly, and thank you for that. Everyone is entitled to like what they like here and shouldn't have to fear snide comments or bullying. Being open-minded is never a bad thing. Showing tolerance for opinions outside of your own is an impressive trait.

My Mom says 'Sh-Boom' was the last great song ever written. :heheh:

And I agree with LG about the 80's. The New Wave and Techno seeds were planted by groups like the Cars in the late 70's, but it really blossomed and flourished in the 80s.

Alot of really, really good bands and songs came from the 80s, and sometimes only get a shrug and eye-roll because because of the emphasis on the visual (thanks again, MTV)

Cyndi Lauper, for instance, did some really great things musically, but she doesn't get the credit for it because she looked like Walt Disney threw up on her.

Supermod...I think you've misunderstood the tone in my post. I'm giving you a hard time about your comments about my generation but it's all in fun. I don't know how you got bullying from that. It's just some gentle ribbing. :uh:
