From the list Mojo is the best. It covers the best new bands while it still looks back at the past. Missing from the list is CMJ.

My bad; that is quite the glaring mission.

Mojo got my vote because I'm usually taken in by the classic band on the cover but I always end up learning of new bands

I'm sure all the magazines today are shit--like the music.

No, it's just not so. If you like rock, you should like "Mojo", "Uncut" and "Shindig".

I'll read Uncut when I'm interested in the subject matter but they tend to be into alt-country a little too much for my tastes. I don't know if that's changed since I haven't brought Uncut in a long time.

In the gradually expanding distribution category, Shindig is the music mag of choice these days for me. Still a regular reader of Mojo as well. It's one of the best pro mags out there.

Rolling Stone pulled a "Playboy" years ago, went slick, and became a wisp of itself within a genre it helped to create. Of course business is business and all that jazz... but periodicals had a heart years ago.

For low circulation but an excellent read, the published twice a year Ugly Things is a good one.
