I said earlier I was going to comment but I changed my mind.:D

For me it's the synth pop, new wave, new romantic of the early 80's that dominated the charts. Artists like The Thompson Twins, Tears For Fear, Simple Minds, Pet Shop Boys, The Eurythmics, Culture Club, Men At Work, etc. Spineless, weak, pompous, bombastic, over produced programmed synthesizers compensating for feeble and deficient talent and musianship.

At least rap/hip-hop has some style with energy, vigour, and forcefulness expression. No question, some of it goes over the top. Doesn't certain artists go over the top in every genre(?).

its Tears for Fears not Tears for Fear. Don't lump them in with those other bands they actually had plenty of talent. :****:

And don't forget the Human League and Men Without Hats too!

Fixed it AK :grinthumb

As far as talent?? For some people it's not enough. :cheers2

I think they're pretty good myself. But the talent thing is a wrong argument in my opinion. Opera has alot of talent...some people don't like it. All the bands joe listed have "talent" :grinthumb

But again..sometimes it's not enough

Why is everbody getting upset? It's my opinion. I'll lump in Tears For Fear if I like. As for talent, it's all relative. To what degree of talent is based on one's own interpertation.

As for Tears For Fear, I'm not denying there isn't talent. Probably the better of the other cheezy bands I listed. Wasn't most of the production on these albums of these sub genres in the early '80's cheezy?

Oh ya, I forgot this band:

I agree with the other bands although I like some of them too but I don't consider TFF part of that genre. Just my humble opinion. not upset or anything.

Hmmmm...that would be Flock Of Seaguls?? :heheh:

They have some cool tunes but I love the airport scene in the Wedding Singer..."Hey you like Flock Of Seaguls?"

Sandler : "I can see that YOU do" :heheh:

...but I agree with you. Talent or not...it's a worse "style" of music for you and that's all good.

:cheers2

^^^That's good. I respect your opinion on TFF. I will say that they are above the rest of the bands I listed. I think they had three big hits off the one album, whick I don't know the title. The song "Shout" wanted me to shout to turn it off. The other two songs were OK.

At least the synth pop and new wave people were mostly writing their own songs.

Rap, hip-hop and techno artists often make their living sampling other people's songs.

Besides the new wave artists were generally doing songs people could actually relate to. I just can't relate to music about living in the "West Coast" and "gang banging suckas from the East Coast."
