90s were far from a dark age for metal. Extreme metal was actually in its prime back then.
Quoted for truth, again.

Of course I'm a little bit angry because it's impossible to deny that US and UK are countries which contributed the most to the heavy-metal genre.Nice introduction![]()

This is 1977.That's even before the NWOBHM emerged.
Riot is just an example showing that heavy music existed in the USA long before 1980s. BTW, their album 'Thundersteel' is a true masterpiece. You are confusing music taste with education. Deep Purple predates Riot so does Judas Priest. Again England beat the US to the mainstream metal. I'm not a big fan of Riot, BTW.

I'm partial to Metal from across the pond. However, there are a bunch of bands from the good ole USA that would easily make it into my top-notch metal list.
Kamelot
Manowar
Iced Earth
Savatage
Virgin Steele
Hourglass & Dream Theater (for the more prog metal)
Kamelot did, in fact, start in Florida, though were hardly popular here in the U.S. But they became a different band when Roy Khan arrived and were more "European" after that
One of my all time favorite band though.
I saw this on facebook. The U.S. isn't included, but I can't imagine it even comes close to the lower end in Europe.
