Re: Steppenwolf

I gotta add that the way their music was used in "Easy Rider" promoted them, in my mind, from "that band that did Born to Be Wild" to "one of the classics" :grinthumb

The Pusher has really risen to be one of my favourite rock songs of the 60's :grinthumb

Another reason why John Kay could pull off a slow ballad so well..

Re: Steppenwolf

Had the pleasure to see Steppenwolf in concert once, years ago. Not the original band - it was billed as John Kay & Steppenwolf. At a mid size club. What a great night.

Are these guys in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

If not? - they should be.

Steppenwolf is one of my all time favorite bands.

These guys are legendary.

Unfortunately, I don't believe they are.

Goldy and John both deserve a spot in the RnRHOF. Goldy is fantastic on the Hammond and of course John makes the guitar talk. John Kay is in Canada's Walk of Fame

Re: Steppenwolf

Nice footage of Steppenwolf..

Damn, this track is very good. I must download them when I get back home from college and might be thinking of getting some of their albums. What would you recommend apart from the one with Born To Be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride?

Nololob.. Browes through the posting in this thread.. There are plenty of good suggestions.. As for albums Seven is my favorite. But you can always not go wrong with a greatest hits like these..

This was the first Steppenwolf album I ever heard. Sooting pool down my friend's basement. Good place to start.

Re: Steppenwolf

My dad's first album he bought back in 1971 was a Steppenwolf album. He was so proud, he loved that album.
