We have Numerous threads for Overplayed songs already scattered about the forum, that is different from this one which could be interpreted as me disagreeing with my brother about The Doors "Light My Fire", he loves it one of his favorites, I find it bland and too long doesn't have to be large scale simply a difference of opinion with one other person.

No need to complicate something straight forward, that's my view on these threads.;)

I don't think anyone is trying to point fingers but unfortunately threads like this tend to go sour a lot. :uh:

Who's bugged? Not me. Did someone say they were bugged? I was just asking for clarification.
Not at all, I emphasised that in general. Not singling anyone out.

Now do you mean overplayed or overrated? :heheh:
I would say both personally. I don't think that song is all that great and I do think it gets overplayed. :heheh:
My personal opinion.

OK good. Yeah, because I didn't see where anyone got bugged. My intention is not to bug anyone either. But as LG said, it's overrated as the title says. And the poster determines what that means to them. So....in my opinion, Sweet Home Alabama should not be in this thread. :heheh:

Between my left and right speakers...
Here's the thing for me personally...if I love a band's music then I don't mind but now if one PARTICULAR song gets tons of airplay that doesn't move me then I would ask why do people like that one and why are stations compelled to play it. I wouldn't hate but I'd rather hear something else. I agree with Jen that in a way...overplayed = overrated.

I'd nominate the following too in the category.

"Dancing In The Dark" - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band...too poppish and the dancing...yeesh [sorry Jers love ya but...].
"Show Me The Way" - Frampton...I hear that opening chords...gack.
"Smoke On The Water" - Deep Purple...like it but how about Strange Kind of Woman instead?
"I Want You To Want Me" - Cheap Trick...play "Surrender" off Budokan please! Oh and the lyrics are beginning to sound whiny!
"Another Brick In The Wall" - Pink Floyd...the children's choir was fine in the beginning, decades later it grates on me nerves.

Exactly what I meant JG. It's open to interpretation, and that's how I interpreted it. And I promise I am not trying to argue with you. I think one could go take a look at all of the songs posted in here, and if they can tell me that about 90% of those are not also overplayed/overexposed I'd be surprised. If you look at Tray's list even, I think all of those songs are overplayed because they are overrated. But then again I never said that all songs that are overplayed aren't also overrated, but most of them are. Also, the OP should clarify if they wanted us to discuss if they are overpraised by critics or by the public. There's just so many ways this could be taken and just because a couple of people took the thread title a different way doesn't make it a bad thing, or make anyone else more "right". Makes for a better conversation I think. When we try to prove each other wrong all the time it usually leads to argument and there's no fun there. :)

I'm getting confused now myself. :bonk::heheh:

Which is exactly what I said in my first couple of posts in this thread. I said overplayed and overrated does not necessarily mean the same thing but it can at times...but not always. That's all I was trying to say.

And would everyone quit apologizing to me for the Bruce songs mentioned. To me they are his pop tunes and while I like them they are far from my favorites. So mention away. :heheh:

PS...Love ya too G. :D

Ahh I had overlooked your post gcc. I wonder, if I bought a 64 oz. Diet Coke and hit the road to Anchorage there and back how many times I would hear those songs on the radio. :heheh:

:cheers2

The top three radio played songs by any classic rock band
Heck even the bands I don't like I would rather hear another song.
