Rory Gallagher - Deuce (1971)

A1 Used to Be 5:06
A2 I'm Not Awake Yet 5:38
A3 Don't Know Where I'm Going 2:45
A4 Maybe I Will 4:13
A5 Whole Lot of People 4:54
B1 In Your Town 5:43
B2 Should've Learnt My Lesson 3:34
B3 There's a Light 5:59
B4 Out of My Mind 3:00
B5 Crest of a Wave 5:52

One of the best blues rock guitarists ever, the one that could get the emotions out of his Fender Telecaster. Fell in love with his music instantly and none of his songs I dislike. Pure genius. The album itself is I call it a statement of what he is going to do in the next albums. Some interesting jams here and excellent slide guitar, definitely one of the three starting points for any person, who wants to get into Rory Gallagher's work.

Favourite tracks: Used To Be, In Your Town and Crest of a Wave

Omega - The Hall of Floaters in the Sky (1975)

The+Hall+Of+Floaters+In+The+Sky.jpg

A1 Movin' World 6:33
A2 One Man Land 5:52
A3 Magician 6:03
B1 The Hall of Floaters in the Sky 3:25
B2 Never Feel Shame 8:15
B3 20th Century Town Dweller 6:46

Another English effort from the longest Hungarian (and third in the world) running rock band, which proves to be a movement towards progressive rock. Originally written in Hungarian, this album contains all re-recorded tracks from two Hungarian LPs with English lyrics. It gained a group following over the Europe, especially in the UK (although I never met anyone, who has ever heard this band before). Worth to check out just to know some more interesting heavy prog that came out from behind the iron curtain.

Favourite tracks: One Man Land and Never Feel Shame

Nazareth - Razamanaz (1973)

600full-nazareth----razamanaz-%5Bvinyl%5D-cover.jpg

A1 Razamanaz 3:50
A2 Alcatraz 4:22
A3 Vigilante Man 5:22
A4 Woke Up This Morning 3:51
B1 Night Woman 3:28
B2 Bad, Bad Boy 3:56
B3 Sold My Soul 4:47
B4 Too Bad, Too Sad 2:54
B5 Broken Down Angel 3:44

After two not so successful albums, their third effort under DP's Roger Glover's production, Razamanaz is their very first entry to single and album charts. This albums is giving the statement that the band is going to play loud and proud. McCafferty's distinctive range vocal is brilliant, it can be heard on their cover 'Vilgilante Man'. Interesting album to check out.

Favourite tracks: Razamanaz, Night Woman and Bad, Bad Boy
Tracks worth to check out: Hard Living and Spinning Top (both released as B-side singles of Bad, Bad Boy)

The Scorps album and Rory's album are classics!! Must give Omega a good listen.
It's a pity Hard Living and Spinning Top aren't on Razamanaz, it would have been a better album.

Barclay James Harvest - Everyone Is Everybody Else (1974)

Barclay-James-Harvest-Everyone-Is-Every-514462.jpg

A1 Child of the Universe 5:06
A2 Negative Earth 5:32
A3 Paper Wings 4:19
A4 The Great 1974 Mining Disaster 4:39
B1 Crazy City 4:09
B2 See Me See You 4:37
B3 Poor Boy Blues 3:05
B4 Mill Boys 2:47
B5 For No One 5:08

...and that's the first 10 albums done. Barclay James Harvest, one of those underrated and forgotten prog rock bands with incredible songwriting talent. After 4 album marathon with Harvest they switched to Polydor and got a new producer, who worked with Budgie and Black Sabbath. Apparently the band were not happy with what came out of it, but to me it is so far the best album by them. Some great guitar work, but let's not forget about mellotron, which is the key instrument in majority of their compositions. Pure brilliance.

Favourite tracks: Child of the Universe, Paper Wings, Crazy City and For No One

Zior - Every Inch A Man (1972)

51bgl-O8O%2BL._SL500_SS500_.jpg

A1 Entrance of the Devil 2:10
A2 The Chicago Spine 4:10
A3 Have You Heard the Wind Speak 3:10
A4 Time Is the Reason 2:44
A5 She'll Take You Down 3:45
A6 Dudi Judy 2:50
A7 Strange Kind of Magic 3:21
B1 Ride Me Baby 1:55
B2 Evolution 3:55
B3 Every Inch a Man 4:35
B4 Cat's Eyes 3:20
B5 Suspended Animation 3:15
B6 Angel of the Highway 5:55

This second album by a totally obscure heavy rock band is a departure from Hammond organ towards more guitar lead sound comparing to their debut album. The band broke up after this LP and stayed on a very low profile. Not much I can say, but there are some fabulous riffs and heavy tones. Typical for a hard rock band.

Favourite tracks: The Chicago Spine, She'll Take You Down, Strange Kind of Magic and Angel of the Highway
