JOHNNY CASH
"I wear the Black for the poor and beaten down
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town.
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime
But is there because he's a victim of the times"
- Johnny Cash, "Man In Black"

John R. "Johnny" Cash was a country singer who has risen over the past to become an American cultural icon and one of the most recognizable country musicians worldwide.
Along with the likes of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash began his career with the famous Sun Records. Many of his early hits, such as "Get Rhythm", "Ring of Fire", "I Walk The Line" and "Folsom Prison Blues" have remained popular and recognizable hits.
Since the early years, Johnny Cash made a name for himself as a spokesman for Christianity, and for Prisoner rights, and was often seen alongside his wife, June Carter Cash. Cash and Carter often dueted on tracks, with the most famous of those being "Jackson"
Cash has been renowned throughout his career for his famous shows in American prisons, noticeably Folsom Prison and San Quentin, and his TV show, The Johnny Cash Show, which featured many prominent musicians.
Through many mechanisms, including appearing on the U2 track "The Wanderer", and the mega-success of his biographical film "Walk The Line", featuring Joaquin Phoenix starring as Cash, he has remained one of the most popular artists in music history.
Johnny Cash died in 2003, aged 71.
