I agree with you Dave I thought their 70's work was better than their 80's output, I only have a greatest hits CD now.

Re: "The Official" Hall and Oates Thread

I just read something interesting and it's so obvious now that I'm listening to it again. Micheal Jackson thanked Hall and Oates because he actually cribbed the beat for "Billy Jean" off of their song "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)"!

So anyway, reading that got me back into a Hall and Oates kick! :D

I have a few LP's of theirs but mainly their hits are all I need.

You know they did a BANG up job on Don't Let Me Down when they appeared at The Concert For Lennon :grinthumb

I am going to buck the trend and confess my undying love for synth-y, pop-y, 80s Hall & Oates. It's just great pop songwriting. Based on the respect/homage they get from indie darlings, I'm not alone!

Same as MP, my favorite Hall & Oates album is Bigger Than Both Of Us.

In 2003, they released Do It For Love, which I think is a very good album. For those of you that are Hall & Oates fans and don't have it, I recommend it.

Hall and Oates recognition thread

i know there is one already in the 70's thread, but i just thought id make another one for kicks(since that thread seems to be dead). this has to be one of the greatest rock groups of all time! the way they blend rock n roll with soul is just great, as well as being a bit experimental in the 80's with new wave and power pop. this is personally my favorite rock group of all time. their early-mid 80's lineup had the best mixup of musicians imo; charlie dechant, micky curry, g.e. smith, and t-bone. its a shame their bassist, t-bone, passed away in 2010. R.I.P t-bone, easily by favorite bassist, he will be missed.

These guys were HUGE when I was in high school. My favorite tunes of theirs are "It's a Laugh", "She's Gone", "Sara Smile", "Every Time You Go Away" and "Out of Touch".
