Billie Holiday: Jazz Singer/Songwriter

One of the few jazz artists I listen to nowadays thanks to my grandparents. They introduced me to the jazz scene at a very young age, and the vast majority of artists that I listened to in the genre didn't really have as much effect as others did. Don't get me wrong, jazz is definitely a genre that I shoot for, but there's just not enough time in the day to listen to enough of it. Perhaps it would call for a "jazz day", I don't know. I don't want to ramble however, let's listen to some jazz shall we?

Billie Holiday reminds me so much of Nina Simone in that she can sing any type of song, in any musical genre and has that wonderful voice that is recognizable the moment you hear it.

Like Nina, I can listen to Billie Holiday sing all day, every day.
