The Partridge Family Album, their first album. I know this may seem odd but this is a perfect album or CD whatever you own.

I have thought so pretty much my whole life. The songwriting, the singing, the musicianship.

When Danny Bonaduche worked here in Chicago I had a chance to hang with him a couple times and he always has great things to say about the music.

While the music of the Partridge Family became friendlier and friendlier over time I still feel that this first album is a true gem for anyone's collection.....and that's no matter who could have recorded it.

With such talented musician's like Joe Osbourne and Hal Blaine and the writing styles of Wes Ferrel and Tony Romeo, this is a must have IMO!!

Re: The Partridge Family

I give you credit for having the "Bollocks" to write a thread for the Partridge Family Buddy, but I am not a fan...:nw:

I don't Hate them or anything, just don't feel the need to play their music. I will admit to watching pretty much every episode on television though....:heheh:

I don't run from the room screaming when I hear the Partridge Family ... Their music is Okay ... I'd much rather watch their television show than the Brady Bunch ...

MP I wish I could chip in something.. They go so far back for me that I only remember the show and loving Susan Day and all.. The song.. I can feel your heartbeat you posted.. Was one of my favorites.. My neighbor kid brought over a album one time with that song on it.. And he made up this funky dance to it..:lmao: Kids.. man.. those were the days..
I liked Marsha Brady too.. But Susan and that face..:heybaby:

I have to admit, MP, they were good songwriters and the production was good for the time period.

But I never followed the partridge family music career, only the show. If they would have stuck to music, the story may have a different ending.

David Cassidy was a girls wet dream, and his sappy songs feed their dreams ;)

I always hated Danny Bonaduce when he was younger, but he is really a trip now. I love his commercial where he gives the boxing challenge :heybaby:

Re: The Partridge Family

Yeah the band itself was a good team and was consistant for every album.

I feel they really had a seperation between show and song. But the first album is gonna be the top one for me. That album is a perfect blend of pop skill as well as musicianship.

Re: The Partridge Family

^^^ :lmao:

I have to tell you I love the show and have it on DVD...but I will say that anything after the first album became too sugary.

But the first album as a whole was a great creative effort IMHO...and stands alone as a decent pop/rock album. IMO it could have been made by anyone with almost the same style of music and would have been better appreciated without the Partridge Family title.

Sometimes it's just the tag.

But the first album just had a little bit more sophistication than everything that followed.

That was one of David Cassidy's gripes back then. The music didn't grow from where it started. It came up to a safe line and just stayed there. There were many gems scattered throughout but to me it wasn't the same as the original PF Album.
