Didn't see something like this so I thought I would start one. Any other Tom Waits fans out there? I know he is a bit of acquired taste but he is one of my all time favorite artists! Great performer, great songwriter, and great storyteller.

Here is how allmusic.com describes him:
In the 1970s, Tom Waits combined a lyrical focus on desperate, lowlife characters with a persona that seemed to embody the same lifestyle, which he sang about in a raspy, gravelly voice. From the '80s on, his work became increasingly theatrical as he moved into acting and composing.

Here are some my favorite songs. I will stick with his early stuff for now. For those that aren't fans you will recognize a couple of these (covered by The Eagles and Rod Stewart):

Ol' 55

Downtown Train

Romeo is Bleeding

Tom Traubert's Blues

Anyone else have favorite songs? Interesting stories, etc...

Nice thread Bobby, but I was never a fan of Tom Waits. He is definitely an acquired taste, an old friend used to try and get me to enjoy his music, but I just can't. Many bottles of scotch were consumed in his efforts to convert me but all for naught.:D

This is a great clip. The interview after Tom's stint in front of the piano is hilarious!
