I'm assuming the Blu-Ray is audio and not video? What type of audio? Seems like some of the same material plus bonus tracks?

It says that there is some visual between tracks with audio, 5.1 and there are extra tracks and some videos, all the extra stuff is only on the special editions.

Well the new album will be out shortly, I for one will be buying it. There are a number of versions available as you can imagine.

There will be CD, CD + DVD, CD + Blu-ray & Double Vinyl, the Blu-ray is the version I have ordered and at £19.99 it had better be worth it.

This is what you get on the CD + Blu-ray:

Disc: 1 (CD)
1. It's What We Do
2. Ebb And Flow
3. Sum
4. Skins
5. Unsung
6. Anisina
7. The Lost Art Of Conversation
8. On Noodle Street
9. Night Light
10. Allons - y ()
11. Autumn '68
12. Allons - y (2)
13. Talkin' Hawkin'
14. Calling
15. Eyes To Pearls
16. Surfacing
17. Louder Than Words

Disc: 2 (Blu-ray)
1. Things Left Unsaid
2. It's What We Do
3. Ebb And Flow
4. Sum
5. Skins
6. Unsung
7. Anisina
8. The Lost Art Of Conversation
9. On Noodle Street
10. Night Light
11. Allons - y (1)
12. Autumn '68
13. Allons - y (2)
14. Talkin' Hawkin'
15. Calling
16. Eyes To Pearls
17. Surfacing
18. Louder Than Words
19. Anisina
20. Untitled
21. Evrika (a)
22. Nervana
23. Allons - y
24. Evrika (b)
25. TBS9
26. TBS14
27. Nervana

Thanks for posting this, I must admit I personally prefer albums to have just one edition, that's to say the standard album with nothing more (no bonus tracks or alternate versions) and nothing less.

Some interesting song titles here, names like Things Left Unsaid, The Lost Art of Conversation and Louder Than Words are notable as they seem directly related to The Division Bell's theme of communication (or lack thereof), and given the announcement that Stephen Hawking has given his voice to the album my guess is that he probably appears in Talkin' Hawkin', judging by that title. I wonder if Autumn '68 is any way related to Atom Heart Mother's Summer '68? Given that the album is at least partially a tribute to Rick Wright it certainly doesn't seem out of the question.

I'll almost certainly give the album a listen, although as I'm a big fan of David Gilmour and Pink Floyd instrumentals I suspect I'll probably enjoy it. I do want to hear it first though rather than buying 'blind'.

I though about buying the straight CD but the Blu-ray has extra tracks that are not just live recordings so I thought it would be good to see all the visual stuff and videos.

Completely unrelated to The Endless River, just a couple of days ago I found this video of what seems to be an early mix of Shine On You Crazy Diamond:

Points of interest (some of these aren't especially surprising, but others were unexpected):
- This version ends at Part VIII, suggesting that Part IX was recorded separately (given that it's solely credited to Rick Wright whereas all the other sections are credited to Waters, Gilmour and Wright this does not surprise me that much).
- There is no guitar solo in Part I.
- Part I ends very suddenly before Part II begins.
- At the start of Part II David Gilmour plays the initial Syd's theme parts six times rather than four as in the final version. In this recording it sounds to me almost like David wasn't happy with the first two attempts and starts playing the theme again from the start.
- Guitar overdubs seem to be missing throughout, this is probably most noticeable in part II.
- There are no backing singers on the vocal sections.
- Dick Parry's sax solo in Part V is absent, this does enable the guitar and organ parts to be heard more clearly which makes it interesting.
- Part V segues seamlessly into Part VI.
- Roger Waters sings the chorus in a different style in Part VII (I'm glad he changed this for the final version, he goes a bit over the top here I think).

I found this on Facebook, so I'm not sure of it's origins, but it's probably not far off the mark. The one thing I noticed is that South Africa isn't mentioned. I know we have some SA Floyd fans on here. Any thoughts?

Pink Floyd is pretty big amongst the rock fans here in South Africa. The classic rock channel plays a LOT of Floyd, especially from DSOTM. Also their albums are usually available at the local music stores and they seem to sell well. Additionally, The Australian Pink Floyd Show played here a few years back and it was well attended, if not sold out, despite it being held in a dodgy part of town.
Regarding the banning of The Wall by "the previous regime", it probably did a lot for Pink Floyd in this country. People that would not normally have listened to Floyd became interested in them in order to find out what the album was all about.

I see that much like the Beatles,Stones and Led Zeppelin probably among other British acts, they actually are more popular in the States than in their own home nation.Furthermore,it hardly surprises me that they have such great degree of worldwide appeal. That my friends is one of the hallmarks of a truly legendary band......

I just wish that Syd Barrett hadn't delved into LSD so much.I feel the world was almost certainly robbed of many great works I think he would have created had he not literally blown his mind with the psychotropic substance......
