To me, the word overrated doesn't mean bad. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, a lot of bands are overrated. They still happen to be some of my favorites. Nirvana is pretty overrated. I still like them.
Michael Jackson is overrated. Especially right now. Everyone is sucking up to him, and it is getting really annoying. He sucked then, he sucks now. Overrated and mediocre musician, at best. His dancing however? Thats his forte. He's an amazing dancer.
Exactly right my friend - lots of bands/performers are overrated and the more overrated they are the more you know about them, which is what they want - cause otherwise their underrated!
It doesn't necessarily mean their "Bad" either. For instance everyone states that "U2" are overrated for which I get the impression their bad - but does anyone know the songs from their first EP in 1979 called "U2:3"? And how well does everyone know their first 3 albums "Boy", "October" & "War". I only know "War" but it's got some interesting songs on it - perhaps that album is a little bit overrated - though gets overshadowed by more recent works of their's and Greatest Hits Compilation Albums. I personally have their "Best Of 1990-2000" which I personally think is a joke myself, so I see a bit of good & bad in U2!
