I still have never warmed up much to the Decemberists, either. They are OK, but I have better stuff to listen to

I am not surprised but they have an old 70's folk rock vibe I liked right away.

That's about the only band EMD ever rec'd that I pursued though...he would be crushed to hear that.:D

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms. I like "Money For Nothing" but have never really cared for them as a whole and the one time I tried listening to the album, it was a snoozer.

Brothers In Arms was one of the first CD's I owned, my brother gave it to me for Christmas when CD's were taking over from vinyl. It's not my favorite DS recording, but I still play it once in a while.

Regarding my "Back In Black" comments. I may have been wrong. After I wrote that a few weeks ago, I started listening to the album, because I was really intrigued by people considering it so good. And I love it now. It's still not my favourite 80's album, but I can see why so many people love it. Definitely in my Top 20 of the decade :D

Come on Lynch... Don't hold back, tell us what you really think! :heheh:

You should see me when I get into one of "those moods". My commentary here might be considered pretty tame by comparison.

:oyea:

Lynch you need to do an album review.....I would love to read your colorful comments broken down song by song :lmao:

I might have to do it in my Gear Grinding journal, with plenty of warning "not for young (or sensitive) eyes" :flirt

^^Half of his review would be blotted out by the filters Magic...:oyea:

I think you are correct sir! :heheh:

I like when you fire up and give brutally honest reviews, its good to see honesty if something was a crap record.

My vote goes to the Stone Roses album that was such a critics darling in 1989.

So many to choose from. I'll start with what comes to mind first:

Pixies - Surfer Rosa

Absolutely one of the worst albums I've ever heard in my life. Pure and utter trash. If you like it, good for you. Why you like it? Well, that's an answer that is beyond me, I couldn't even attempt to speculate. If this album was in front of me and on fire, I wouldn't piss on it to put it out. I'd rather listen to cats howl at each other. I'd rather listen to goats bleat. I'd rather listen to the sounds of Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber played on an infinite loop, backwards, at the wrong speed than listen to this album. The smell of fresh pig shit isn't as unpleasant as the sounds found on this turd.

After reading this, Lynch, I absolutely have (or at least try) to listen to one of the songs on this album. Because your analogies are ... just too good. :lmao:

OK, just listened (can I call it that???) to Bone Machine. The poster's comment included "The album's unusual and offbeat subject matter includes references to mutilation and voyeurism; this is augmented by experimental recording, low-fidelity production and a unique drum sound." Uh, yeah. Experimental, low-fidelity, and unique all fit. This comment was definitely too kind. :pullhair:
