They played a huge part in hardcore punk.

I think the Sex Pistols are the best example of a short career with a huge impact. They only released one album and honestly it had probably the biggest impact on music ever. The only other album I can think that had that impact is Nevermind.

that is, if you care for punk.

Whether or not you care for punk their impact is there since Alternative rock took somethings from punk. Grunge is a sub genre of alternative rock. The impact the grunge scene had on music was huge. Traced back to hardcore punk which the germs were apart of.

Pat Smear guitarist for the Germs played in Nirvana.

Big impact whether or not you care for punk.

Yeah but saying the abomination that is Never Mind The Bollocks... is the most impacting aspect in music history is a joke. I mean, Howlin Wolf, Chuck berry, Elvis, The Beatles ,etc.

They inspired the music which inspired punk. So saying the sex pistols are more influential is rudimentary.

Never said they were more influential. I said their album had more impact then any other album in the history of music which honestly is true. Who cares if they inspired the music that inspired punk? Does that make them any more important? No it does not. That is such a baseless arguement. Just because they had an influence on rock which had an influence on punk does not make them more influential then the Sex Pistols and even if you think they are it still does not take away from the fact that the Sex Pistols had a huge impact on music. Honestly they probably are a bit more influential on music then the artists you mentioned.

Good amount of hardcore punk bands were influenced by the sound.

Some bands influenced by the sound and image.

Some bands influenced by the attitude.

Some influenced by the lyrics.

Some influenced by all of the above.

Metal bands, Thrash Metal bands, hardcore punk bands, sludge metal bands, alternative rock bands all influenced by the Sex Pistols musically, image wise, or even their attitude.

It really is not rudimentary at all. Some bands are more influential then others regardless of if they came before or after other artists.

The Sex Pistols are more influential then the Ramones honestly. The Ramones yes did create punk rock and are just as influential as some of the artists you mentioned. The Sex Pistols had more impact then the Ramones and a bit more influence in the genre of punk.

In your opinion it is an abomination, it is considered a classic album in music history.

Still your opinion does not change the fact the band had a huge imact on music whether you like it or not.

Your bias blinds you.

You are trying to argue the impact of a band and honestly it is getting tiresome when you do such things because you only do them to start fights on here and your opinion is not able to show the fact to be false.

Sex Pistols huge influence and impact on music and doing so with only one album. Today people still list them as an influence.

Never Mind The Bollocks changed music and honsetly there has never been anything like it before and really there's never been anything quite like it since. The closest album that had that type of impact was probably Nevermind which was made a band very heavily influenced by the Sex Pistols, Nirvana.

Lets see your negative views based on your bias opinion. Whether you like it or not both albums had huge impacts on music quite unlike anything else since.

I can name a shit load of bands that infuenced Nirvana but does that make them more influential then Nirvana? No. I can name a shit load of bands that influenced Black Flag, but does that make them more important or influential then Black Flag? No. Black Sabbath influenced Black Flag, but does that mean Black Sabbath is more influential on the hardcore punk scene? No.

Sex Pistols played a huge role even outside the punk scene. Alternative Rock, NWOBHM, Thrash Metal, Hardcore Punk.

Yes people think they suck, but that is based on taste which is subjective. That does not diminish their influence and impact on music which is a fact.

for me its all about quality of the product so i think they're both equally impressive...

i dont really give kudos to those who have had a long career but keep releasing mediocore material and i dont give extra points for dying young or breaking up early...

So what your saying is that The Sex Pistols were more influential than The Beatles?

To a certain group of people and genre(s) of music, the Pistols were certainly more influential than the Beatles.

In the grand scheme of things, not so much.

There was a whole generation that was sick of hearing about how all you need is love, and to that generation, the Pistols were way above the Beatles. Personally, I kind of have a love/hate thing with both of them.

That could be easily taken the other way as well.

And its the grand scheme that really matters.
