Re: Jethro Tull

Geez, what's the forum record for longest running active thread? ;)

Just kidding. Since I love Tull, I always look forward to seeing the next post here.

Boy that takes me back. When I was in high school, one of my best friends had an 8-track deck that actually recorded (I know, right?). One of the first LPs I put on a tape was Aqualung. Man, did that tape get played to death in the car.

Re: Jethro Tull

That is a great looking 8 Track Hep, but it still doesn't convince me to buy an old player.

My thanks to Jeffrey for all his rare and exquisite photos of everything Tull, you have left me in the dust as a true fan of the band, at least I used to think I knew a Little about them.:heheh:

I'm going to sneak another album in here during this lull. My all time favorite Jethro Tull record, I am on my 4th copy now. I bought it in 1977, the year I graduated high school, and seeing I had a good job the previous summer it made grade 12 a lot more fun including buying some great records.

This one jumped out at me the first time I saw it, I never even bothered to check the price, picked up the only copy in Kelly's and brought it home. This was the 2nd record of Tull's I bought, the year before I got MU Volume One and wore that puppy out, but didn't have enough money at that time to get really serious about completing any of my favorite artists.

"Jethro Tull With Kitchen Prose, Gutter Rhymes, and Divers Songs from the Wood", with a title like that how can you go wrong? This one goes back to the folk roots of the band, with just enough of the hard edge in some tracks to remind us that Tull can still sizzle when they want to. Ian Anderson was living on his farm at the time this was recorded and you can feel the influence of the rustic lifestyle oozing from the album. It also has my all time favorite JT song, which I will post along with one of the best Vinyl album covers I ever owned. The CD artwork is just too small to give the glorious painting the room it needs to really show off it's quality.

Velvet Green.

Re: Jethro Tull

LG, would you believe I got SFTW a few months ago but between having no free time to listen, and my general forgetfulness, I haven't gotten around to hearing it yet?

I know, I know - I don't deserve to participate in this thread. ;)
