I saw this on facebook. The U.S. isn't included, but I can't imagine it even comes close to the lower end in Europe.

Yep. It all depends really on the sub-genre. Europe is way better for black metal, power metal, progressive metal, symphonic metal even for the most part. US for the thrash, death metal scenes but even with those I think Europe have their great share of bands also.

In the 90's and 2000's Scandinavia ruled, all the way.
