Shame that the Australian Van Halen fans will have to wait a bit longer for the band to make their debut down there. It would be nice if someone could come out and say why the deal for this was pulled, especially after Dave name dropped Australia when the second leg of the US tour was yanked.

You sound very optimistic about VH getting their act together(literally) and continuing to tour Powerage.

At this point I will be Shocked if VH does anything else except announce they are retiring for good. We aren't even seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the behind the scenes drama taking place and given the pre-history of the people involved I am taking a pessimistic view of things.

maybe dave just doesn't want to come out. they never came out during their peak 1978-84. the only time they came out was with cherone in 98

They've got gigs booked in Japan. Hopefully they can get through those. Australia was mentioned but nothing concrete. I read that the Soundwave Festival was cancelled rather than Van Halen pulling out. Supposedly the festival was meant to have Aerosmith as a second headliner but they pulled out and the festival couldn't get a replacement so they binned off the whole show.

I say there are loads of reasons why a deal couldn't be reached with a promoter, especially in a territory such as Australia which is as far from anywhere around the globe before you start coming back on yourself.

The biggest problem is Van Halen have never been very good at talking to their public. Years can go by with no word from the brothers, then something will appear and then they'll disappear off the face of the Earth again.

I'm optimistic because they are the last band I have to see live [besides Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin] and they're one of my favourites. If they can complete a World Tour extending into 2013 that comes to Europe, I could die a happy man.

Not that bothered about them snubbing Australia. Plenty of other bands I can go see live anyway.

I'm starting to sense the words FAREWELL TOUR anytime now.....

If that happens, would be nice to allow Mike in for that

Well for your sake Powerage I hope they do manage one last trip to England.

Two bands on my bucket list I never got to see, The Beatles and Zeppelin...chances are less than zero I'll ever cross them off my list.;)

Cheers man. Next time Paul McCartney does a show I'm gonna go. I come from a family of Beatles and especially Macca haters, yet the old man has seen McCartney numerous times through charity gigs and guest appearances :heheh:

I missed DLR's last solo tour in England through apathy and other plans, a couple of mates went, devastated in hindsight.

No harm in a farewell Van Halen tour, so long as it comes to England!
