VAN HALEN Pulls Out Of Australian Tour
Rock Hard
Posted on Sunday, August 05, 2012 at 10:12:24 EST

VAN HALEN has pulled out of plans to tour Australia in summer, News Limited reports.

Promoter Patrick Prendergast, of When The Lion Roars, had pitched a tour in the first week of November. But he added: ''Van Halen have passed on playing in Australia this year - which is a shame.''

Prendergast had been in talks with the band since April and said a deal was ''very, very close".

It is the second time in 18 months Van Halen, reunited with frontman DAVID LEE ROTH, has pulled the pin on visiting Australia. They were confirmed to headline Soundwave Revolution last September, but cancelled, opting to finish an album.

Van Halen News Desk has issued the following exclusive details about the upcoming Van Halen Japanese TV Special, airing next week.

* It will be broadcast in Japan, Tuesday, August 7th on BS-TBS. It is part of the Song To Soul series. The entire show focuses on Van Halen’s #1 hit, 'Jump'.
* The show is nearly one hour long – much longer than other Song to Soul episodes.
* All or most of the footage shown will be brand new, exclusive interviews. They’re not simply using lots of old footage which diehard fans have seen before.
* The new interviews of David, Eddie and Alex discussing 'Jump' at Dave’s house were filmed just two weeks ago.

I'm just about VH'd out now...in the following weeks I expect a VH is retired permanently announcement.

If so at least they will have given us one last good record and a few good shows before the seeming inevitable implosion took place...sigh too bad but anything to do with Eddie and Dave has the potential for something special or a catastrophic event.

I echo that. What should have been a triumphant rise from the ashes has proven to be a colossal bust. I think this era of Van Halen could possibly be the most unreliable and dysfunction run for any band in music history.

I don't understand it Cosmic, they seemed to be enjoying themselves, and then...Poof!...like someone turned off the power switch.

Of course we all know what will come next......Slammin' Sammy will tell anyone who asks "I Told You So...:D", and as much as I am tired of his endless barbs aimed at VH if this is the end of the reunion then he was right.

They should have released the album and just not toured. That album is a total beast. Then the tour.... barely happened. They could have gone out on top. But hey, bless their hearts for trying.

^^About the only criticism I've heard about the tour before they went into hiatus was that Dave can't quite carry the old songs like he could ten years ago. That is just going by what I've read, I haven't seen them live and they canceled their stop here along with just about everywhere else.

Dave's voice does sound rough live..maybe that has something to do with it???

That depends if our resident 70's Guy post any article about what Sammy thinks of this.. :heheh:
I agree that they gave us one more good album. I play A Different Kind of Truth back to back with the new Chickenfoot. There is always something I missed everytime I listen to them.
Gonna be funny what Powerage has to say now.. I bet it will be still in defense of Van Halen even though this pattern seems to follow them around like a bad curse and they can't keep their problems from tearing up the band..

^^I would bet the farm Sammy is waiting for the retirement announcement.

It's sort of sad though, everyone was excited to see what the reunion would be like and now it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
