You sound very optimistic about VH getting their act together(literally) and continuing to tour Powerage.
At this point I will be Shocked if VH does anything else except announce they are retiring for good. We aren't even seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the behind the scenes drama taking place and given the pre-history of the people involved I am taking a pessimistic view of things.
They've got gigs booked in Japan. Hopefully they can get through those. Australia was mentioned but nothing concrete. I read that the Soundwave Festival was cancelled rather than Van Halen pulling out. Supposedly the festival was meant to have Aerosmith as a second headliner but they pulled out and the festival couldn't get a replacement so they binned off the whole show.
I say there are loads of reasons why a deal couldn't be reached with a promoter, especially in a territory such as Australia which is as far from anywhere around the globe before you start coming back on yourself.
The biggest problem is Van Halen have never been very good at talking to their public. Years can go by with no word from the brothers, then something will appear and then they'll disappear off the face of the Earth again.
I'm optimistic because they are the last band I have to see live [besides Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin] and they're one of my favourites. If they can complete a World Tour extending into 2013 that comes to Europe, I could die a happy man.
