Re: The New Moody Blues Thread

Just to add, that the Blue Jays also released a song 'Driftwood', which I thought was brilliant. I'll have to have a root around to see if I have any Moodies stuff - I certainly have the single Nights in White Satin on Deram somewhere (Ain't everything inaccesible the older you get?).

If you still have an original Deram Single of Nights in White Satin in good shape then it might be worth a little money Steve...:D

I was definitely surprised when I started this thread and did some background research to find that the English recording industry was still in Mono mode while N. America was already playing stereo albums. And then the Moodies recording "Days of Future Passed" specifically to show what Stereo sound was like to the British public and history was made. Has to be one of the most important records ever released back then, as well as being a "Pearler".

LG - Well for my pains, as well as playing guitar for donkey's years, I was also a Mobile DJ for over a decade (at the risk of sounding patronising, that's where someone takes specialised record decks to clubs and plays music - sometimes there's different terminology per-country), anyway, my several thousand singles & LPs have been played to death. And to be honest, no matter what price was offered I would never sell any of my records, there's just too much emotional investment there.:)

And just to add, though I'm sure you're aware, didn't Justin Hayward sing some of the tracks on War Of The Worlds?

I understand the sentimental attachment to your record collection.

Yeah I bought Jeff Wayne's masterpiece when it was released, then bought a half speed remastered deluxe copy and then the CD, which was stolen so I bought another copy so that makes 4 so far. I still have both my vinyl editions as well, somehow they have survived everything that has happened over the years.:D

^^ I have the Double-Cassette version, and do you know, I'm going to dig it out and play it this saturday evening. It's the night in the UK when the 'clocks-go-back', so there'll be plenty of time to savour this wonderful musical work.

Moody Blues play Sheff in September and I am mulling over nipping to see them should be a good night.

Sox, I kept meaning to ask - did you go to the Sheffield concert? If so, what did you think? I gave them a miss as they didn't play Scotland at all this time round. :mad
