I first heard this Chicken Shack album called Imagination Lady that was originally released on the Deram label (the progressive rock imprint for Decca records) in 1971 on a cd back in the early 1990s when it was re-released on Deram and liked it a lot back then cos it features some amongst other things aggressive 'wah wah guitar' by Stan Webb on some tracks heading this 3-piece group along with a bass player & drummer and I played it a number of times back then in the 1990s anyway the album was re-released in 2022 along with Lucky Boy 1973 & Goodbye Chicken Shack 1974 in a 3-cd box set on Esoteric records and in my humble opinion this album is well worth hearing for anyone into early 1970s British blues/rock. According to the liner notes the album done very well in Germany when it came out back in 1971.

On Imagination Lady Stan does a cover of 'Going Down' made famous by Freddie King..i liked Chicken Shack when Christine McVie was in the band.. Stan is one of those British blues guitarists that deserved more acclaim, along with the likes of Snowy White and Pete Haycock from Climax Blues Band...I loved the Climax Blues Band when they first started out, they were a great blues band and their first 3 or 4 albums were very good..Such a shame that in the later 70's they turned away from the blues and became a wishy-washy pop group...

The saddest of blues, love this track taken from Chicken Shack's debut album '40 Blue Fingers.'...Christine McVie had a truly wonderful blues voice..she wrote this track..i put her up there along with Jo Ann Kelly as the best ever British female blues vocalists.

i saw Stan Webbs Chicken Shack in 1989 at the East Anglia Rock and Blues Festival inside Mildenhall Speedway stadium in Suffolk, right next door to the big American Airbases of RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall...Rory Gallagher headlined and Uriah Heep were also on the bill.

Climax Blues Band - St Michael's Blues...This track taken from their album 'Tightly Knit.'...Their first 4 albums were very good...Pete Haycock was a wonderful guitar player...This track is the kind of blues i like, very heavy heavy slow blues.

Bought Accept in 1970....loved it right away...for me that had that early Green /Fleetwood Mac style.
My friend Bill had the first 3 and turned me onto the earlier lps.
Pocket above is from Accept....and as mentioned Christine Perfect/McVie was on the first 2 on keyboards.

My favorite track from Accept

Another great track from that late 60's/early 70's British Blues-Rock Boom..

Steamhammer - Junior's Wailing...an epic track.

in my view, the 2 greatest periods in music were the early/mid 50's Chicago Blues Scene and the late 60's British Blues-Rock Boom.

Wonderful band.....I like them better than Shack and as much as the early Green /Mac era.
I have all 4 of their cds and first 2 on old vinyl also.
(My friend Bill who is a big Brit blues fan became friends with a music store person on the west coast about guitars and ended up corresponding (and phone calls) with Kieran White (died in 1995) and they would talk music and guitars .)
Of course Pugh and later with Cenammo (who was on last Steamhammer lp) formed Armageddon another great lp....sadly doomed due to Relfs untimely death.

Perhaps not the right thread but another b and in that style in 1970 that were very good....as far as I know no connection to Shack or Steamhammer. They have been mentioned by several of us on the forum...all 4 lps are worth getting imho.
