It's great to have family and friends,,,I have about 200 top quality cassettes of old vinyl and rare CD's from my friends I copied years ago, before burning CD's became fashionable, and they sound excellent too.:tup:

I have Hey Jude on mini LP CD Japaneses Import .I used to have it on vinyl as a kid. I always thought that it was an official US issue until I went to buy it on CD and had to hunt it down as an import.

I could easily be wrong about this, but it was my understanding at the time that the Hey Jude LP, even though issued on Apple, was created specifically for the US market since there were no other Beatle LPs that had those songs on them - they'd only been released in the US as singles up to that point in time. Kind of hard to believe when you think about the quality of the material. The album predated the "red" and "blue" compilations.

Now that doesn't mean necessarily that any CD version of it was ever released in the US, which might explain your having to scare up a Japanese import.

Edit: A quick check over at All Music shows it was only released in the US in LP and cassette formats. No CD at all. It also shows it being a Capitol release, but mine has an Apple label. Of course, I have no idea what the details were of the contractual relationships between Capitol, EMI and Apple.

Well I guess that explains why some of the songs "Can't Buy Me Love" etc.
sound like they are from an earlier time period then other more sophisticated sounding songs like "Old Brown Shoe" and "Lady Madonna" .I always wondered about that even as a kid.

Now I know :grinthumb

Hey Jude is a great compilation, but I don't think it has anything that doesn't appear on one or the other of the Past Masters discs.

Even so, I'm still hanging on to my LP copy. :D

I think Hey Jude was the only album to contain the song Rain, which was the flipside of the single, Paperback Writer, if I recall.

The Beatles

Yeah it's true we didn't have a proper thread for the lads from Liverpool.:eek: So I decided to Correct that oversight. I'm not going to do a big introduction, we can fill up the thread easily enough I'm sure. I have posted all of the albums in my collection in the collage above, with the exception of two compilations that I'll get to later. The Beatles were a very important band for me, they opened the door to the endless possibilities in rock music in the late 60's, and I'll always have a soft spot for them.

For many of our younger members, I understand if they don't "Get It", us older fans tend to rave on and on about some of our favorites from decades ago. But I do think all music fans should at least recognize the importance of their contributions, not the screaming fainting girls, but just the gift of the great music they left for us.

I am adding a poll, I will list all the albums I posted and am just curious to see which ones are in most of our members libraries.(If I have missed any you think should be added please let me know.)

:grinthumb Thank you !:tup::oy::oy:
