This must have been posted before but here it is again, "Start Me Up" by the Stones. I sincerely hope that they WERE trying to send themselves up just a bit! The first appearance of Keef is a hoot! And the shots of dear old Charlie with that smile of his are priceless!

I stopped buying Stones lps after Its Only Rock and Roll...though I gave in and did buy Some Girls and Tatoo You later....which are decent lps.
Start Me Up has a good classic Stones riff and melody but as usual the lyrics are silly which became a hallmark of many later Stones songs imho.
Regarding 'sending up themselves' they became a parody of themseves imho after 1980 or so.

Letting Microsoft use your song for a video. WOW. I think Dulux Paints used "She's a Rainbow". Which "sell out" came first? Who offered the most cash? Really, all a bit of a laugh, surely?

As I see it, they are simply being themselves.
