But...but....Freak Kitchen is metal that tries to stuff some progressive elements into short pop-type songs! Not bad music, though.

Re: Porcupine Tree

Freaking love these guys. They're one of the first bands I got into when I was introduced to the prog genre as a whole:

Cannot go wrong with this song

Superb band Harkat.:D

Seriously though, one of the best bands to come along in the last 20 years IMO. PT has three different phases of musical styles that captures all my hearing preferences.

Steven Wilson, who is basically PT is a very busy man. He has just released a new Blackfield album. Blackfield is another project he has been doing for last five years. More of a pop oriented sound.

He will be producing the new Opeth album as well this year and working with Mikael Akerfeldt on a album as well. Mike Portnoy from DT was supposed to be a part of it(rumours) but now that's not the case.

Re: Porcupine Tree

Akerfeldt, Wilson and Portnoy? That'd be freakin' epic man!

Steven Wilson just gets more and more prolific as time passes, my most recent musical addition is another of his side projects, I.E.M. (Incredible Expanding Mind****) If PT aren't considered prog giants yet they bloody well deserve to be remembered as one in 20 - 30 years. Anesthetize is among my favourite songs from them, the whole FoaBP album is essential listening! :grinthumb

For the moment though, I'm really really digging this beautiful track:

Sal, Portnoy bailed on the project. Not sure why.

Damn. That's the first time i'm hearing that news. He would have done pretty well in the band. I wonder if they'll give news as to why.
