^^I was going to mention that, but PF is one of those bands that's perfect for when you're on your own.:hab:

Animals is great as is Wish You Were Here. Prefer those to the most typically rated albums like The Wall which was incredibly boring to me and DSOTM which was not bad but I have heard better.

As a long term fan, I like the Syd stuff, but my preference is the post-Syd material, and, for me it's a close thing as to which is their best album - 'Wish You Were Here' or 'Animals'. 'Animals' just about gets it. Released in the middle of the punk explosion in the UK it blew away anything the punks could say about society, and many of them have since admitted to loving it. Looking around Floyd sites, I would say this is the album that the hard core fans love the most (apart from the Syd fanatics :woot:)

Just recently listening to "Animals" in its entirety for the first time.Once again, the band amuses and enlightens with its usual cryptic yet somehow accessible approcah to its expected sardonic philisophical stance.I love titles like "Pigs(Three Different Ones). So Monty-Python-esque in its attempt at sly British "cheeky" humor.Sonically, the band once again enthralls us with its unexpected twists along the way to some sort of rock utopia where no mode of expression is wrong so long as it instills in the listener a felling that he MUST listen. There's always some un-named element in Floyd's works that manages to both enrapture and inspire while we bounce around our giant plastic pigs.Is this mood the same on "Heart Mother"?

Atom Heart Mother and Animals are seven years and worlds apart. The band was in totally different spaces at these times.

The mood in AHM I describe as being pastoral, somewhat lazy and comfy. Animals' mood is uptight, biting and raw.

Two completely different animals, no pun intended.

Any Ummagumma fans here? :D

I know a lot of people hate it or find it too weird but I actually love it when I'm in that perfect mood of lazing on a sunny Saturday afternoon on the front lawn kinda thing.

Sysyphus. The Narrow Way. Grantchester Meadows.

Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict.

Glorious stuff!

Love Ummagumma. Especially the live disc.

The Narrow Way is another all time favorite.
