Just recently had the pleasure of tracking guitar using the Kemper profiles of the actual 1970 HiWatt Gilmour used on DSOTM. Technology is so awesome for guitar players today!

^^As long as the technology doesn't "play the notes for you" otherwise I'd lump it with autotuning/lipsynching and the most dreaded phenomenon of all...Sampling.:nw:

What is a "Kemper Profile?".

Momentary Lapse of Reason

I love MLOR,,,and managed to get a nice vinyl copy last year, finding any PF album on vinyl is extremely difficult, other than the 3 they released in 2012. Sure hope they do the same with Meddle and Animals one of these days.:D

I saw Roger Waters do the Wall at Wembley stadium. Absolutely unbelievable. I wish I could see the show ever week.

^^I've heard Water's changes things up a little almost every concert, and now The Wall stage show is different from the original album, by that I mean Roger has said it's morphed beyond the concept he started with all those years ago.

Not sure I could do the same show ad-infinitum like he does...but if he's happy and the fans keep showing up then that's all that matters in the end.

Which way to go

Sort of feel like a moron for asking this, but I'll ask anyways. I spent a fair amount time on the Oregon coast this summer, and they played Pink Floyd almost daily, and the music really grew on me, however when I looked up what they played were tracks exclusive from The Wall and The Dark Side of the Moon, and yet their discography is much larger. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on which way to go with their music to get a really deep appreciation for them.
Thanks

You're not a moron for wanting to listen to more Pink Floyd! You're awesome!
I've been absolutely obsessed with the Floyd for over 20 years, so I'm pretty qualified to give you my 2 cents.

American classic rock radio will only play tracks from Dark Side, The Wall, Wish You Were Here and occasionally Animals. So the northwest coast is not an anomaly.

These albums were released during the 1970's after the astronomical success of Dark Side of The Moon. Most people regard this period as their most creative, as it was also their most commercially successful.

But there was life before Dark Side for the Floyd! Seven albums to be exact.

So having said that, I'd recommend listening to Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall thoroughly(if you haven't already) before working your way backwards through their catalog beginning with Meddle, Obscured by Clouds and Atom Heart Mother.

After that's digested go back even further to More, Ummagumma, and Saucerful of Secrets.

And then after that introduce yourself to the works of Syd Barrett with Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Enjoy!! and any questions, we're always here to help. :D
