Re: Ozzy.

The default gain on that album is out of whack Riff, one of the "loudness" issues that seem to be very common now. When I play this CD on my system and compare it to other new recordings that are done properly then it definitely falls short on that comparison. This is a common complaint, "Death Magnetic" was also blasted by many audiophiles for being a terrible slipshod production as far as the sound quality goes.

Scream is nowhere near as good as Ozzy's earlier records, even thought they are 30 years older they sound better.

Re: Ozzy.

I actually rate Scream in my favourite albums, as do I Death Magnetic, the loudness is what I love.

Re: Ozzy.

Sorry I disagree strongly, we all have volume controls to adjust any default level to suit you, but nowadays due to the i-pod/MP3 generation the default signal is set way too high for proper balanced playback on a good stereo.

It is one of the worst things to ever happen to music period, and I am not the only one who holds that opinion. And considering the younger kids of today are happy with blasting their earbuds and don't listen to good sound systems much at all I think we old audiophiles have this one right.

They are idiots for what they have done with the Loudness phenomenon...I won't say anymore about it.

In saying I love loudness I do concur that was taken to the extreme with those 2 albums. Again the music itself I enjoy but do concur the production in those areas was rather poor.

That was all I was trying to say Riff, the music is good, but a couple of the technical boards I visit the audio buffs/sound engineers were really disappointed with how they produced those two albums by legendary rock stars.

Well fair enough I can agree with that :)

Re: Ozzy.

Black Rain Ozzy's ninth studio album and the last one to have Zak on guitar duties. A bit of a shift in style on this one a touch industrial/thrashy maybe, anyway it took me a little getting into but it's still a fine album IMO.:grinthumb
