I've been paying tribute and remembering Randy Rhoads...............

Mr Crowley live 1981...

Flying High Again

we shouldn't forget one of the greatest guitar licks ever created....Randy Rhoads "Crazy Train". Here is the master track with nothing but his beautiful guitar work!!!!

for the life of me,i can,t understand why ed van halen had major problems with rhoads playing style.

Well.....I 'm not an expert on either guitarist and only have a few Ozzy lps that Rhodes played on ...and I currently dont own any Van Halen lps not being a fan of their songs in general over the years... though Eddie was certainly a fantastic player. I also have no Quiet Riot lps....never was much of a fan of their songs and style either.
I did read a short article a few years back that said Eddie thought Randi had 'borrowed'(stolen?) his style and licks. Rhodes had said that he was till working on his 'own style' and naturally listened to other players for ideas. I think Van Halen was a bit ticked that Rhodes had some of his licks down and was maybe even jealous of the up and coming Rhodes.

Both Eddie & Randy were part of the same scene in SoCal. I don’t believe they were enemies, but definitely competitors. Randy always praised Eddie for his skills and even taught Van Halen licks to students.and Eddie was seen at Quiet Riot shows.

IMHO there was no bad blood between the two. It was all tabloid created drama.

I think you are correct on RR and the Ozz lps he played on...I have those 2 cause a friend burned a few for me....preferred Sabbath over Ozz solo.
EVH was a great guitar player ,but Van Halen's music never appealed much to me...the songs were basic hard rock and a little boring to me. I have also read that he indeed pissed off lots of people.
I'm surprised he did not do any solo lps with a rock fusion edge like Beck and others did. They might have been quite interesting.
