I do believe this is the right place...

Just today I decided to revisit Janis Joplin. Actually sat down and listened to her.

Damn she's good.

I'm curious, so I believe I'll go and learn a little more about her.

Any album reccomendations?

You should absolutely check out Cheap Thrills. It's her album with Big Brother & The Holding Company, who were on of the greatest bands of American psychedelic scene. Later she went to form Kozmic Blues Band, but Cheap Thrills should keep you satisfied ;)

My fave is Kozmic Blues - I love the brass and the songs are topnotch. Cheap Thrills is much more 'basic, bluesy. Pearl is probably the best overall and the easiest to get into for a new fan.

I wouldn't recommend a best of for Janis - you shold go album by album. And it's not like she released 20-30 albums so...

I know it might be odd to recommend a live album, but to experience the raw power of Janis Joplin and Big Brother & The Holding Company - ''Live At Winterland '68'' is the way to go. Excellent sound quality and a great performance from Janis and the boys.

Also, if you want Janis's most popular studio album, ''Pearl'' is the album. I recommend the ''Legacy Edition'', where the second disc is a live disc.

And if you like those, ''Cheap Thrills'' is a 60's classic....
