Metal: American or European?

European. I don't listen to any American metal bands. I don't think I have an American band in my top ten bands, although James Taylor is one of my favourite solo artists.

I lean towards Power metal bands which are a european trend..dragonforce, blind guardian, Iced Earth, helloween, gamma ray, Avantasia, rhapsody on fire , hammerfall etc etc ..with Iron maiden, Judas Priest and motorhead also on my preferred metal style list....even wrote a blog about it

the yank bands I do like are Metallica, WASP, Motley and a few dozen of the hair metal acts

Trying to get back into Metal myself.

European seem to have a more diverse range of metal for me to choose from.

Though there are some great American bands I really enjoy like Agalloch.

I much prefer the European bands, but I am actually a fan of both, especially the American Glam.

European bands. How can anyone compete with an area that has put out the likes of sabbath, priest, maiden, motorhead, dio, ozzy, saxon, early lep, the scorpians, hammerfall, any band Kai Hansen has been involved with etc etc.

I just feel American metal is too......commercial and poppy.

I like some of both, not "all" of either.


Probably my two favorite metal acts of all time are Dio (US) and Judas Priest (UK)
