I picked up the Love Gun Deluxe yesterday and it sounds great. The bonus disc is really cool and is worth the cost. The quality is good on the demos especially on the songs that didn't make the album. One tune that's titled I know Who You Are is actually an original working of Living in Sin which appeared on Simmons's 1978 solo album. It's definitely not as cheesy as Living in Sin(it doesn't have the Living in Sin chorus and don't have Cher making that cheesy phone call). It has 3 great live tracks from 1978 (Love Gun, Christine 16, & a near 9 minute version of Shock Me) and it also comes with a 24 page booklet, and a magnet Love Gun(that looks like the original cardboard one that came with the original vinyl)

OK, this settles who I'm most envious of today.

Just curious, does anyone out there have an alternate version of the title track of this album? I happened across it a while ago (don't even remember where now), and it's replaced the original on my playlist. It's got the same ending, only instead of Paul's vocals, Ace's solo is on top, with the vocals underneath. Waaayyy cool. It's just some scales, nothing especially difficult, but I've always loved it.

23 years ago today, we lost a great musician in Eric Carr at the age of 41. :uh:

Carr was diagnosed with heart cancer in early 1991. He had open heart surgery in April of the same year and was treated for cancer in the following months. His final appearance with KISS was in September 1991 at the MTV Video Music Awards. A few days later, he had a brain aneurysm due to a hemmorage in the brain caused by the cancer. He remained unconscious (not sure if it was a 'coma' or not) until the day he died, November 24, 1991.

RIP Eric!!! :rip:

Here is a nice set of gifs that were made from a video he made in
the hospital a couple of days after his heart surgery in April. I remember
seeing this video a few years ago and it made me sad, but his ending
also made me laugh (and still does). I have never heard an unkind
word regarding Eric. Supposedly he was one of those guys that was
truly lovable/likeable. He wasn't fake, he didn't need to be. A talented
musician that was taken from us way too soon.

Yes Kiss and many many other bands, some suggest much of The Dolls elements were stolen by Aerosmith most specifically S. Tyler.

The Dolls were way way ahead of their time. inspired many, stolen by some but never duplicated

I live in Buffalo, NY
The Dolls had their influence early on Kiss but Alice Cooper was a main influence along with bands like Zep , Free,Slade, & the Move. As Mr. Jim said Aerosmith stole from the Dolls. As far as Kiss...the NY Dolls had their hold on the NY scene and had a big following...Simmons and Stanley were already working on costumes(personas)by their pre Kiss Band Wicked Lester(they had ideas drawn out that someone would be a Caveman, someone would be a Riverboat Gambler, etc) but the rest of the band weren't too crazy about the idea of the costumes. Soon after Wicked Lester split and Kiss began as a trio rehearsing w/ Peter Criss experimenting w/ white face. By the time Ace joined Kiss seen what was going on with the Dolls and they tried going for the Dolls look for a short time which didn't really work for them. They were really blown away by seeing Alice Cooper at MSG on their Billion Dollar Babies tour and figured if they had 4 Alice Coopers... I am a huge NY Dolls fan it's wild how ahead of time they were and how much influence they had on a lot bands. Incidentally...Dolls drummer Jerry Nolan was Peter Criss's best man at his wedding.

Wicked Lester man Buck I forgot all about them, leave it you to know all this right at the top

The Dolls were so far ahead of the time. nobody ever believes the Aerosmith stories, they usually dismiss it because they came out at a such similar time.
